Description: The Slow Worm is believed to be one of the longest-living lizards in the world. Adults in the wild reported to live near 30 years of age. This lizard is native to Eurasia. Slow worms, like many lizards, are able to regrow their tail after an injury. Females of the species give live birth to babies, and can be found basking on warm roads prior to birth. They are commonplace in UK gardens, and are also protected here as their numbers are steadily declining. The biggest hazard to these creatures is the domestic cat, having no defence against these common predators.

Description: The European Plaice is a highly sought after flatfish, typically found on the sandy bottoms of the european shelf. It feeds on polychaetes, crustaceans and bivalves.
Plaice have been fished to such an extent, that many are captured not long after reaching 6 yrs of age, when typically they can reach up to 40. They're now growing more slowly as a result, and data shows the numbers of all 8 recognized types of plaice are at all time lows. They've been overexploited to such an extent that it's no longer sustainable.
